From the Pew News, Oct 27th: Welcome to our Services. I spent yesterday at the Diocesan Conference, of which the main theme was discipleship. If the church is to grow, we need to share what we know, and who we know in the person of Jesus Christ. Three questions you could ask yourself are: as you follow Jesus, are you becoming a more loving person? Are you more repentant? Are you more open and teachable? It’s not hard to be a disciple and make disciples—you just need to be yourself! As your heart grows in a right relationship with God, you will shine that love out and people will notice it! Doing life together, forming the deep relationships that belonging to a worshipping community brings, will grow us all as disciples, followers, people who learn from Jesus Christ. Felicity. |
Sentence: The redeemed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. Isaiah 51:11 Collect: We praise you, God, that the light of Christ shines in our darkness and is never overcome; show us the way we must go to eternal day; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Notice re budget: You may remember we did not confirm a budget for this 2024 year. This is because a new vicar (Felicity) came on board much sooner than we had expected, so we were 3-4 months out on costs. Unfortunately the initial budget was loaded and could not be updated without difficulties. Now we have finally worked out a way to do this, an extra AGM to agree the budget seems redundant when our 2025 budget is due in February (in 4 months time). In fact there is very little difference to costs – 80% of a fulltime Vicar costs are only slightly more than travelling costs and 50% for a Caretaker Vicar based in Christchurch. We are still expecting to end the year with a large loss – we had thought $30,000, now its looking like $35,000. Therefore, the Vestry believes we should continue to monitor against the budget proposed at the 2024 AGM but not voted on, and concentrate on getting next year’s budget in order. If you need further information or have questions, please contact Ken Fletcher or the Wardens (Rachel Stagg and Jenny Ross). Offerings: Budgeted per month to cover all costs : $8047.Our total revenue for Sept was $3300. Are you on our direct giving scheme? See Lois for details. Our bank number is BNZ 0208760178444000 Prayer for Growth God of Mission, who alone brings growth to your Church, send your Holy Spirit to give Vision to our planning, wisdom to our actions, and power to our witness. Help our church to grow in numbers, in spiritual commitment to you, and in service to our local community, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. |
